Man gambles away $1.5 million after bank error gives him access to the cash

Ronald Page

Ronald Page actually had $300 in his checking account, but due to a bank error, he was able to withdraw $1.5 million dollars between December 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009.  Not only did Mr. Page withdraw all of that cash, but he gambled it all away at the Greektown Casino in Detroit and the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit.  The U.S. Attorney’s office in Detroit says that Mr. Page is facing 15-months in prison for theft of bank funds.  His defense is that the bank is at fault because it was their error that gave him access to the cash.  What do you think?  Is the bank at fault or Mr. Page?
